Volunteer: July 25 - Garden Cooking Workshop Support

Join DUG’s educational team to support our Garden Goodness: Cooking with Garden Ingredients Workshop in our Family Friendly series. The workshop begins promptly at 10:00am, but please arrive an hour early at 9:00am to assist with set up. 

Please note that this workshop will take place at the Posner Center for International Development and is open to youth and adults. 

Your responsibilities may include: 

Set up/clean up Checking in attendees Photographing the workshopFamily engagement and activity support Supporting instructor in the kitchenFood prep - washing and cutting vegetablesWashing dishes and cleaning the kitchenSurvey support

You will also have the opportunity to sit in during the workshop and learn the content while offering your support. Once the workshop concludes at 12:00pm, you will support with clean up and any "check out" processes. Clean up/check out should take less than an hour, and your volunteer shift will end by 1:00pm.

Mexico Avenue. Aim to arrive 10-15 minutes early to find parking, locate the meeting spot, and get checked in with us. We will be standing and walking during the workshop. Wear appropriate clothing, bring sun protection, and be prepared for all weather conditions (rain or shine).

Please meet our DUG staff member at the Posner Center for International Development at 11:00am to gather and load materials before carpooling to the park. The event itself runs from 12 - 2pm. Clean up after the event should take ~30 minutes, and your volunteer shift will end by 2:30pm


What to Expect: You will assist with setting up a tent, table, and chairs, and interact with community members with the help of a staff member. You will also be able to enjoy the food and drink provided, and enjoy other activities taking place at the block party.

What you'll do:
