Hello! During the workday we will installing a pathway at our 48th and Julian Food Forest to increase accessibility. Tasks may include digging/trenching, mulching, laying crusher fine for pathways and other physical tasks.  Please wear:

Bring a reusable water bottle! DUG will provide all of the needed tools/materials, as well as light snacks and a water jug. Please arrive with ample time to find parking and check in, we will begin orientation promptly at 1:00pm.

The food forest is in need of routine site upkeep, weeding, and watering.  We will mulch in the spring (May) and fall (Oct/Nov).

Show up whenever you can between 5-7pm on the first Wednesday of every month.

Meet at the covered pavilion picnic tables at 5pm, then we will move to the food forest down the sidewalk to the east of the pavilion.

Bring work gloves, drinking water, and sunscreen. Equipment will be provided.

Dress in layers for sun protection and comfort. Please wear close toed shoes.

In case of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled.

Help support DUG's effort for our Grow A Garden program by packing various seed packets into their kits. This activity is good for people of all ages. It involves walking around so please wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

Help us share one of the garden’s most valuable resources—compost.

This workday focuses on evenly distributing finished compost across garden plots. Compost improves soil health, increases water retention, and supports our regenerative gardening practices throughout the season.

What we’ll do:

Move finished compost from the compost area

Distribute compost evenly to garden plots

Support soil building across the entire garden

This is hands-on, team-based work that makes a big difference for every gardener at Nome Park. No prior experience is needed—tools and guidance will be provided.

What to bring: work gloves, water, closed-toe shoes
Good to know: moderate lifting, shoveling, and wheelbarrow use
Service hours: counts toward monthly community service requirements

There are no restroom facilities or drinking water at this site.

2nd Saturday of the Month | Nome Park Community Garden

Join us for our monthly General Garden Care Workday, where many small tasks come together to keep the garden healthy, organized, and welcoming for everyone.

This is a hands-on, flexible workday with a variety of chores that support the entire garden. Volunteers can jump in where they feel most comfortable and switch tasks as needed.

Typical tasks may include:

Weeding and tidying common areas

Pathway maintenance

Compost management

Tool and shed organization

Light infrastructure upkeep

Seasonal garden tasks as needed

No special skills are required—just a willingness to help and work as a team. This is a great opportunity for new members to learn how the garden functions and for returning members to contribute to shared care.

Good to know: bending, kneeling, and light lifting involved
Service hours: counts toward monthly community service requirements

DUG will be joining Slow Food Denver and We Don't Waste to facilitate a seed to plate to regenerate event! We will be creating bean seed necklaces with attendees while sharing about DUG's gardens and resources. You will be hosted by 2 DUG staff who will bring all materials and provide orientation day of. 

Come and get your hands in the dirt, meet some new friends, and help getour community garden ready to plant!! Tasks may include weedig, garden maintenance, cutting back and working in winter cover crops, adding organic fertilizer and hand-tilling so plots are ready for planting in 2025.

We will have extra water on site and we will provide refreshments near the end of the workday. Please bring any garden rakes, garden forks, round shovels, garden buckets, and weeders you may have.  We will have tape and markers for you to put your initials on your tools so they don’t get lost in the shuffle.  We appreciate your help getting Stober Community Garden ready for Spring! 

Come join the first workday of the season at Sunshine Community Garden! We will be working on cleaning up our space before our gardeners start in May. Tasks may include: weeding, picking up trash, clearing pathways, tilling and amending plots, organizing our shed, and fixing damaged garden beds. Please bring your own water, sun protection, and gloves and wear closed toed shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty! 

We are looking for volunteers on 4/12 to help us complete our pathway project at the Morey Middle School Food Forest. The plan is for us to meet up at 840 E 14th Ave at 8:00am to build the final section of our pathway and wrap up no later than 12:00pm. Come join your neighbors, friends, and other volunteers to make a difference in your community!

Greenway Garden will receive a big load of compost this week and we needs some support to get it off the street and into our garden beds! Many hands make light work! We'll use buckets and wheelbarrows to carry compost into the garden. Involves light lifting and physical work. 

Be prepared to work outdoors. Wear sun protection and appropriate clothing, closed-toe shoes.  Bring drinking water and anything you need to be comfortable. Safety orientation will begin at 1:30pm.

This cozy school based community garden is in need of a little sprucing! We need all hands on deck for pulling weeds, turning compost, and spreading compost over these beds. It's time to prepare for the growing season. Come help us get this garden ready for another fun year of community and learning. Let's celebrate earth day by getting our hands in the soil! We will have light refreshment available for volunteers!

Water and baked goods will be provided- please bring a water bottle! Also, please bring gardening gloves and sunscreen (we'll have a few extras of each if you do not have these).
